Uno design is inspired by the hortus conclusus, a feature from medieval cloisters. In this way, Uno is linking ancient traditions with our present. In fact, its watering technology is named Olla and it was widely used by Romans. The vase inverts the original system where the Olla was containing the water, in this case there is the soil. Moreover, Uno adopts eco-design and eco-friendly packaging because we believe in wellness and sustainability.
Uno, designed by Marco Coletti, is not your ordinary vase. It is a self-watering terracotta pot handcrafted in Italy, revolutionizing the way we care for our plants. This smart pot is characterized by an automated system that is easy to use, even if you don't have a green thumb. The terracotta used in Uno has the perfect ratio of porosity for watering the plants, ensuring they receive the right amount of moisture.
What sets Uno apart is its modular and asymmetric geometry, available in different colors and a limited edition. It goes beyond being just a pot, as the base allows for the insertion of a metal frame for the growing lamp Meno, giving birth to two other products: Due and Tre. When it comes to the production process, Uno is composed of two parts: a glazed ceramic container for water and an unglazed terracotta vase. The careful research conducted around terracotta, finding the perfect ratio between dimensions and porosity, has resulted in the most natural medium for growing plant seeds stress-free at home.
With its unique properties and innovative design, Uno has gained recognition in the design world. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Decorative Items and Homeware Design category in 2023.
